## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON DOWNWIND AND OPPOSITE THE NUMBERS THE TOWER ASKED IF A SHORT APPROACH COULD BE MADE. THE ANSWER WAS AFFIRMATIVE AND RESULTING IN A SLIGHTLY HURRIED UP APPROACH. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE FAILED TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN AND BECAUSE PART OF THE FLIGHT WAS IN SLOW-FLIGHT WITH THE GEAR WARNING HORN SOUNDING HE FAILED TO RECOGNIZE ITS SIGNIFICANCE. AFTER THE PROPELLER CONTACTED THE RUNWAY THE NOSE WAS PULLED UP AND GEAR LEVER PUT INTO THE DOWN POSITION BUT IT WAS TOO LATE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
