## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON COMPLETION OF "FLIGHT OF TWO" AND ON LANDING AT HOLLISTER RUNWAY 31, LEFT WING STRUCK TAXI LIGHT AIRCRAFT WAS POSITIONED CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF RUNWAY 31 TO ACCOMODATE THE OTHER "FLIGHT OF TWO" AIRCRAFT. PILOT MISJUDGED THE "ACTIVE" OR "USABLE" RUNWAY EDGE. THE ORIGINAL WIDTH OF THE RUNWAY HAD NOT BEEN MAINTAINED SINCE ITS ORIGINAL CONSTRUCTION BUT INSTEAD WAS RESURFACED NARROWER. THE OLD PAVEMENT APPEARED TO BE THE EFFECTIVE RUNWAY EDGE TO AN AIRMAN LANDING A TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04CA155](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04CA155), Mar 13, 2004: Jerry Garrison Christen Eagle II (N796L), Hollister, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to obtain proper runway alignment and maintain clearance from a sign due to his inadequate visual lookout. Factors in the accident were crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
