## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MR. KEITH R. LATHAM WAS PILOT IN COMMAND AND CONDUCTING AN AFTER MAINTENANCE TEST FLIGHT AT GRUNDY, VA, WHERE THE AIRCRAFT HAD RECENTLY HAD MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC/IA WHO PERFORMED THE MAINTENANCE WAS A PASSENGER ON THIS FLIGHT. DUE TO GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS, THE PILOT MAINTAINED A HIGHER THAN NORMAL APPROACH SPEED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP ON THE RUNWAY AND RAN OFF THE END OF RUNWAY 22. THE AIRCRAFT WENT DOWN AN EMBANKMENT INTO A SMALL RAVINE OF ROUGH TERRAIN, CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
