## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE ACTING AS THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND OF AIR MIDWEST FLIGHT 5208 ON MARCH 15, 2004, CAPTAIN ROBERT PETERSON HOLDER OF ATP CERTIFICATE 529023720, FAILED TO MAINTAIN POSITIVE CONTROL OF N155ZV AFTER LANDING AT MANHATTAN, KANSAS (MHK). THE WINDS WERE REPORTED AS 310 DEGREES AT 23 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 30 KNOTS. THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND CAME TO A STOP WITH ALL THREE LANDING GEAR OFF THE RUNWAY. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN SECONDS, CAPTAIN PETERSEN, ON HIS OWN INITIATIVE, ATTEMPTED TO TAXI THE AIRCRAFT BACK ONTO THE RUNWAY. WHILE TAXIING THROUGH THE MUD, THE NOSE GEAR CONTACTED THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY CONCRETE SURFACE AND COLLAPSED CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL AIRCRAFT DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE PASSENGERS ON BOARD WERE EVACUATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT.
