## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 17, 2004, AT APPROXIMATELY 0745, THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF PIPER PA-23-250, N32RW, SN: 27-4667, EXPERIENCED A MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR HANDLE DURING APPROACH TO THE NORTH PLATTE, NEBRASKA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. THE PIC REPORTED THAT THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR ACTUATING LEVER BROKE OFF WHILE POSITIONING THE SWITCH TO THE EXTEND POSITION. THE PIC WAS ABLE TO SELECT THE GEAR DOWN POSITION WITH A PAIR OF NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
