## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT 1828E, DELTA AIRLINES, FLIGHT 428, AN MD88, EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN DECREASE IN ALTITUDE AND SPEED DUE TO CROSSWINDS. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD ON RUNWAY 5 DRAGGING THE LEFT WING DOWN THE RUNWAY. NO ASSISTANCE WAS REQUESTED, AND THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TAXIING TO THE GATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED TO ANYONE, AND THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONTAINED TO THE LEFT WING TIP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
