(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT ON LANDING THE LEFT WING DROPPED AND THEN THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN. MARKS ON THE RUNWAY CONFIRMED PILOT'S STATEMENT. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS BROKEN AT A POINT WHERE A SUPPLEMENTAL TYPE CERTIFICATED STEP WAS INSTALLED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. NO FATALITIES AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL04LA092](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL04LA092), Apr 8, 2004: Cessna 140 (N527ST), Greenville, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: Fatigue failure of the leaf spring gear strut.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
