## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT SAID THAT DURING THE RUN-UP, THE MAGNETO CHECKS PRODUCED A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE ROUGHNESS BY LEANING THE MIXTURE. THE HELICOPTER THEN BEGAN SHAKING FROM SIDE TO SIDE, INDICATING GROUND RESONANCE. DUE TO THE LOW ROTOR RPM, THE PILOT ELECTED TO CLOSE THE THROTTLE RATHER THAN LIFT THE HELICOPTER FROM THE GROUND. THE GROUND RESONANCE INCREASED AND THE PILOT COULD NOT CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04LA197](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04LA197), Apr 27, 2004: Schweizer 269C-1 (N61415), Van Nuys, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the failure of maintenance personnel to ensure the proper charge of the aft landing gear dampers in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
