## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON LANDING ON THE GRASS ALONGSIDE RUNWAY 28 AT K4A4 (CEDARTOWN, GA) THE PILOT APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES GRABBED RATHER QUICKLY CAUSING THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT TO START LIFTING. IT ALSO CAUSED THE PILOT TO SLIDE FORWARD IN HIS SEAT CAUSING HIM TO APPLY EVEN MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND FORWARD PRESSURE TO THE CONTROL YOKE. THIS CAUSED THE ELEVATOR TO PITCH NOSE DOWN RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPING OVER ON ITS BACK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL04CA102](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL04CA102), Apr 28, 2004: Piper PA-18 (N271T), Cedartown, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper use of brakes during landing roll which resulted in the airplane nosing over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
