## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING ATTEMPTED LANDING, WITH A CROSSWIND ON RWY 9 AT FRR, AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD AND BOUNCED SEVERAL TIMES. PILOT THEN ATTEMPTED A GO-AROUND BY ADDING FULL POWER AND RAISING THE FLAPS. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY IN A STALLED CONDITION UNTIL STRIKING AN EMBANKMENT, SHEARING OFF THE NOSE WHEEL AND THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR, AND THEN COMING TO REST APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF AN AIRPORT ACCESS ROAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC04CA115](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC04CA115), Apr 29, 2004: Mooney M20C (N99NH), Front Royal, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during an aborted landing. A factor in this accident was the crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
