## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FOLLOWING FACTORS CONTRIBUTED TO THE GEAR UP LANDING OF N6799P, ON MAY 1, 2004: 1. MR. LINTNER HAS APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS IN A PIPER PA-24, IN THE LAST NINETY DAYS, INCLUDING THE FLIGHT DOWN TO HILTON HEAD. 2. THE LANDING GEAR SWITCH HAS A NEUTRAL POSITION THAT COULD BE CONFUSED WITH THE DOWN POSITION. 3. MR. LINTNER'S POWER SETTING WAS PROBABLY ABOVE 12 INCHES OF MERCURY ON FINAL SO THE LANDING GEAR WARNING HORN WOULD NOT HAVE SOUNDED. THE LANDING GEAR SYSTEM PERFORMED CORRECTLY ON THREE SEPARATE CYCLES. EVEN IF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS POPPED, AND MR. LINTNER HAD SELECTED THE DOWN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR SWITCH, THE LANDING GEAR INDICATING LIGHT (GREEN) WOULD NOT HAVE ILLUMINATED INDICATED THE GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
