## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATES THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED MINIMAL, PARTIAL POWER LOSS ON DESCENT AT 6000, 4 NM NORTH OF AIRPORT. HE ATTEMPTED A STRAIGHT IN APPROACH TO RUNWAY 18 BUT WENT AROUND BECAUSE HE FELT THAT HE WAS TOO HIGH AND TOO FAST. ON GO AROUND, ENGINE LOST ALL POWER. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN AN ADJACENT FIELD BUT ON TOUCHDOWN, ENGINE REGAINED POWER, HE ATTEMPTED TO FLY OUT, FLEW UNDER POWER LINES, ACROSS A PAVED ROAD AND INTO A WHEAT FIELD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. AIRCRAFT STRUCK A HIGH SPOT IN THE SOIL, RIGHT MAIN GEAR DEPARTED AIRFRAME AND AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST INVERTED. (-23 AMENDMENT) NINE GALLONS OF FUEL DRAINED FROM AIRCRAFT ON RECOVERY. TC DATA SHEET SHOWS 65 GALLONS OF TOTAL FUEL CAPACITY, 55 USABLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL04LA105](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL04LA105), May 1, 2004: Cessna 182A (N5099D), Elberta, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to a foreign substance blockage of the fuel line which resulted in fuel starvation, and the pilot's failure to maintain terrain clearance during an aborted landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
