(-23) N3204G WAS TAXIED TO RUNWAY 21 FOR DEPARTURE. DUE TO CONSTRUCTION ON THE NORTH TAXIWAY FROM A3 TO NORTHEAST RUN UP AREA, N3204G WAS INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF RUNWAY 21 AT A3. AFTER ENGINE RUN UP N3204G CONTACTED THE TOWER REQUESTING TAKE OFF CLEARANCE WITH A RIGHT HAND TURN. N3204G WAS CLEARED INTO POSITION AND THEN WAS CLEARED FOR TAKE OFF. WHILE TAXIING INTO POSITION, N3204'S PROPELLER STRUCK THE TAXIWAY SIGN, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER TIP'S AND TAXIWAY SIGN. THE PILOT, MR. JOSEPH CHIZMADIA WAS UNAWARE OF THE PROPELLER STRIKE AND TOOK OFF WHEN CLEARED BY THE TOWER. WHEN THE TOWER CONTROLLER WAS ADVISED OF THE PROPELLER STRIKE, HE CONTACTED THE PILOT AND ADVISED HIM OF THE INCIDENT. N3204G THEN RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
