## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS MAKING A HIGH-SPEED TAXI RUN TO CHECK THE AIRCRAFT HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS AND TO CHECK THE ENGINE GAUGES. THE PILOT APPLIED FULL POWER AND WHEN HE REACHED 80KTS HE STABILIZED THE AIRCRAFT. HE THEN ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO SLOW DOWN (APPROXIMATELY 60KTS) AND CHECKED THE BRAKES. BOTH WORKED. ABOUT 25 TO 30 KTS HE APPLIED FULL BRAKING AND THE RIGHT BRAKE PEDAL COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED HARD LEFT AND HE STATES THAT HE RELEASED THE LEFT BRAKE. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO THE LEFT AND HE STATES THAT HE PULLED THE MIXTURE, AS HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT GETTING A PROPELLER STRIKE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AND THE PILOT SMELLED GRASS ON FIRE. HE STATES HE QUICKLY EXITED THE PLANE AND IT BECAME FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE PILOT STATES THAT HE FOUND HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THE RUNWAY BY THE RIGHT WHEEL SKID MARKS AND TOOK PICTURES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
