## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) JUNE 04, 2004 AT APPROX. 18:30 CT N3166U, AN AT-301-301 AIR TRACTOR OPERATED BY SOUTHERN AIRE OF COTTON PLANT, ARKANSAS WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED WHEN THE PILOT ROBERT FERGUSON MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A CULTIVATED FIELD. THE FLIGHT WAS UNDER VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND NO FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. MR. FERGUSON STATED THAT HE WAS RETURNING FOR HIS FINAL PASS ON A CORN FIELD WITH 1/4 TANK OF FUEL IN EACH WING AND A FULL LOAD OF FERTILIZER WHEN THE ENGINE COUGHED AND LOST POWER OVER A WOODED AREA. HE WAS UNABLE TO REESTABLISH POWER AND ONCE HE CLEARED THE TREES HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN THE FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
