## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED HE WAS PRACTICING A SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF. HE SAID THE FLAPS WERE SET AT 0 DEGREES AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT 25. HE DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT AIRSPEED HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY. HE LOWERED THE NOSE BUT STILL DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH AIRSPEED. CLOSED THE THROTTLE TO ABORT THE TAKE OFF BUT SAW HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH RUNWAY LEFT SO HE OPENED THE THROTTLE AGAIN. AFTER LEAVING THE END OF THE RUNWAY HE SAID THE AIRCRAFT FAILED TO GAIN ALTITUDE. HE ELECTED TO LAND IN A SMALL POND INSTEAD OF HITTING TERRACED WALLS AND POWER LINES. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED DAMAGE TO THE LOWER NOSE COWL AND LEFT WING. RIBS IN THE OUTBOARD LEADING EDGE OF THE LEFT WING WERE CRUSHED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IMMERSED IN WATER.
