## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. LELOUP WAS CONDUCTING A CHERRY DRYING OPERATION UNDER PART 91 AT THE MUNSON CHERRY FARM. HE TURNED AT THE END OF A RUN AND CAUGHT THE BELL 206B'S TAIL ROTOR ON A POWER TRANSMISSION WIRE, WHICH WRAPPED AROUND THE TAIL ROTOR SHAFT. MR. LELOUP FELT THE BUMP AND HEADED FOR A MORE OPEN SPOT IN THE ORCHARD, BUT THE POWER WIRE STAYED ATTACHED TO THE SHIP AND KEPT HIM FROM THE OPEN SPOT. THE SHIP, HAVING LOST TAIL ROTOR AUTHORITY, BEGAN TO DRIFT RIGHT AND BANKED 15 DEGREES, WHEREIN MR. LELOUP CORRECTED THE BANK WITH STICK INPUT AND SET THE HELICOPTER DOWN ON ITS SKIDS IMPACTING TWO MATURE CHERRY TREES. THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES IMPACTED THE CHERRY TREES, SHATTERING. THE TRANSMISSION AND ROTOR HEAD ASSEMBLY RIPPED OUT THE HELICOPTER AND LANDED SOME 20 FEET AHEAD OF THE MACHINE. PORTIONS OF THE CHERRY TREE IMPACTED THE HELICOPTER AROUND THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION BAY DAMAGING THE DECK AND DECK SIDES. THE FUSELAGE AND TAIL BOOM ASSEMBLY SHOWS STRESS WITH DENTS, BENDS AND KINKS IN STRUCTURAL MEMBERS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04LA102](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04LA102), Jun 9, 2004: Bell 206B (N213SD), Prosser, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance with the power lines while maneuvering.

## Other reports on N213SD (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19900427038339I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900427038339I), Apr 27, 1990: Bell 206B (N213SD), Syracuse, NY. Engine chip warning light. Precautionary landing without incident. Cleaned chip detector.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
