## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING FLIGHT, PILOT EXPERIENCED TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO REACH GARRETT COUNTY AIRPORT (2G4) AND WAS FORCED TO LAND IN A FIELD ABOUT 3 OR 4 MILES FROM THE AIRPORT. INVESTIGATION FOUND #2 PISTON PIN WAS PULLED FROM THE PISTON, CAUSING THE CONNECTING ROD TO BEAT A HOLE IN THE CASE AND BREAKING THE CAM SHAFT. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRFRAME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
