## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 10, 2004, AT APPROXIMATELY 1258 PDT, A BEECHCRAFT BONANZA, N3417B WAS ENROUTE FROM WATSONVILLE AIRPORT (WVI) TO GRASS VALLEY AIRPORT (O17). AT ABOUT 5 MILES EAST OF REID-HILLVIEW AIRPORT (RHV) THE PILOT FELT A VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE. THE PILOT REDUCED POWER AND TURNED TOWARD RHV AIRPORT. THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD BANG AND STOPPED TURNING ON FINAL TO THE AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
