## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT OF N236RV WAS PERFORMING A FLIGHT EVALUATION TO MEASURE SPEED RELATIVE TO POWER SETTINGS AND HAD FLOWN FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.9 HOURS WHEN THE ENGINE SUSTAINED FUEL EXHAUSTION AND THE PILOT ELECTED TO MAKE A LANDING OFF-FIELD ON A COUNTY ROAD. IN THE CONDUCT OF THIS FLIGHT EVALUATION THE PILOT NEGLECTED TO SWITCH FUEL TANKS RESULTING IN FUEL EXHAUSTION TO THE ENGINE. THE PILOT FAILED TO RESPOND APPROPRIATELY, PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE OFF-FIELD LANDING, WHEN HE NEGLECTED TO POSITION THE FUEL SELECTOR TO THE OPPOSING FUEL TANK. THE PILOT SUSTAINED NO INJURIES DURING THIS EVENT AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT OR DAMAGE. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
