## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT APPROACHED CARSON CITY AIRPORT FROM THE NE. DURING THE DESCENT AND LEFT TURN TO THE TRAFFIC PATTERN TO RUNWAY 27 HE WAS SEEN ON A HIGH APPROACH WITH HIGH POWER SETTING ON FINAL. THE AIRPLANE WAS DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT OF RUNWAY NEAR TAXIWAY. ENGINES WERE RUNNING ROUGH, THEN SMOOTHED OUT NEAR END OF RUNWAY. THE PILOT EXECUTED A GO-AROUND AND STARTED A LEFT TURN. IN THE TURN THE AIRCRAFT WAS SEEN TO ENTER A SPIN TO THE LEFT. IT MADE ONE AND A HALF TURNS, IMPACTED THE GROUND AND BURST INTO FLAMES. THE PILOT WAS KILLED ON IMPACT AND THE AIRPLANE WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04FA241](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04FA241), Jun 16, 2004: Cessna 337 (N63BB), Carson City, NV, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain an adequate airspeed while maneuvering during a go-around that led to an inadvertent stall spin.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
