## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PIC REPORTED LOW LEVEL WIND SHEAR, WHICH ADVERSELY AFFECTED THE LANDING AT 49A. HE SAID HE WAS UNAWARE OF A 30 FEET DROP-OFF AT THE END OF RUNWAY 21 AND CONTINUE TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT. HE FURTHER STATED, THE CHART OF 49A AT ELLIJAY, GA DOES NOT DEPICT THE DROP-OFF. DURING ROLLOUT AT 49A THE AIRCRAFT DROPPED 30 FEET LANDING UP-SIDE DOWN. THE RUNWAY AT 49A IS APPROPRIATELY 3500 FEET. THE GRASSY AREA AT THE END OF RUNWAY 21 IS 198 FEET TO THE DROP-OFF POINT. THE AIRCRAFT IS CURRENTLY SITUATED APPROXIMATELY 76 FEET FROM THE LEDGE. THE NOSE WHEEL DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AT APPROXIMATELY 55 FEET FROM THE LEDGE. THE FIRST INDICATION OF THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TIRE MARKS ON THE RUNWAY IS APPROXIMATELY 568 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY 21. THE FIRST INDICATION OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR MARKS ON THE RUNWAY IS APPROXIMATELY 436 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY 21. JUDGING BY THE SKID MARKS, THE PIC LOCKED THE BRAKES TRYING TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT. THE LEFT MAIN TIRE HAS A FLAT SPOT AND IS PUNCTURED AT THE FLAT SPOT. THE PIC ALLOWED NO MORE THAN 500 FEET FOR ROLLOUT AFTER LANDING THE AIRCRAFT, AND TRAVELED 198 FEET THROUGH THE GRASSY AREA BEFORE THE DROP-OFF POINT. THERE APPEARS TO BE MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL STABILIZER, BOTH WINGS (INBOARD WRINKLES AND TIP DAMAGE), FIREWALL DAMAGE DUE TO EXTENSIVE NOSE LANDING GEAR DAMAGE, AND WHAT APPEARS TO BE MAJOR STRUCTUAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL04CA134](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL04CA134), Jun 19, 2004: Cessna T210N (N7393C), Ellijay, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot misjudged his airspeed, distance and intended proper touchdown point which resulted in an overrun of the runway surface and the subsequent collision with an embankment.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
