## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 06-21-2004, SIAI MARCHETI, N15KP, LOST POWER SHORTLY AFTER LIFTOFF FROM RUNWAY 23 AT SPRUCE CREEK AIRPORT, DAYTONA BEACH, FL. THE PILOT HAD ALREADY RETRACTED THE LANDING GEAR, BUT IMMEDIATELY EXTENDED THE LANDING GEAR AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON THE REMAINING PORTION OF RUNWAY 23. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE LANDING GEAR HAD NOT FULLY EXTENDED, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AS IT SLID OFF THE END OF RUNWAY 23. THE PILOT, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, WAS NOT INJURED. A DETAILED MECHANICAL INSPECTION OF N15KP FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT BY AN FAA AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTOR REVEALED NO ABNORMALITIES, AND THE LOSS OF POWER CONDITION COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED DURING GROUND OPERATIONS. INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THE PILOT AND VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BY THE AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTOR INDICATED THAT ALL OPERATIONAL ASPECTS OF THE TAKEOFF, TO SPECIFICALLY INCLUDE OPERATION OF THE FUEL SYSTEM, APPEARED TO BE NORMAL. DUE TO A PROP STRIKE OCCURING DURING THIS INCIDENT, AND SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE THE CAUSE FOR LOSS OF POWER COULD NOT BE DETERMINED, THE PILOT/OWNER OF N15KP STATES THAT HE WILL REPLACE THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE WITH A FACTORY OVERHAULED ENGINE PRIOR TO RETURN TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
