## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER A 2:15 HR FLIGHT THE PILOT WAS ON APPROACH TO A RUNWAY ABOUT 150 FEET HIGH WHEN HE ENCOUNTERED A WIND SHEAR FROM A MICROBURST GENERATED FROM A NEARBY FAST MOVING STORM FRONT. THE AIRSPEED DIMINISHED TO A STALL CONDITION, THE NOSE DROPPED AND HE LEVELED OUT ABOUT THE TIME THAT THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT WENT ACROSS THE SAGE BRUSH AND GROUND ABOUT 60 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR OBSERVATION. HE WAS RELEASED THE NEXT DAY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE PILOT IS QUALIFIED IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF GLIDERS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04CA246](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04CA246), Jun 23, 2004: Schweizer 1-35 (N2874H), Sparks, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's misjudgment of altitude and distance resulting in an undershoot of the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
