## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON SCENE INVESTIGATION SUGGESTS THAT THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE STEEPLY RISING AND GRASS AND SHRUB COVERED TERRAIN IN LEVEL FLIGHT AND AT CRUISE POWER AND SPEED. AT FIRST IMPACT, THE PROPELLER CUT A FURROW IN THE TERRAIN FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 YARDS BEFORE THE PROPELLER SEPARATED AND THE AIRCRAFT APPARENTLY BOUNCED INTO THE AIR BEFORE HITTING THE GROUND AGAIN IN A DIRECT LINE FROM THE FIRST IMPACT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 110 YARDS UPSLOPE FROM IMPACT AND TURNED APPROXIMATELY 120 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT FROM ITS FLIGHT PATH WHERE IT BURNED. THE CHARRED BODY OF THE PILOT WAS FOUND ADJACENT TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE BEHIND THE RIGHT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC04FA070](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC04FA070), Jun 26, 2004: Beech 36 (N7673N), Talkeetna, AK, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from terrain during cruise flight, which resulted in an in-flight collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
