## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS ARRIVING AT THE CASA GRANDE, AZ (CGZ) AIRPORT, VISUAL, NORMAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 23. AFTER TOUCHING DOWN ON THE CENTERLINE, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF TO THE RIGHT, EVENTUALLY CAUSING THE R/H WHEEL TO RUN OFF THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. THE A/C THEN TURNED HARD TO THE RIGHT CAUSING THE L/H WHEEL TO GO OFF THE RUNWAY AND DIGGING INTO THE SAND AND "COLLAPSING/CURLING" INWARD. THE L/H WING TIP AND L/H HORIZONTAL STABILIZER CONTACTED THE GROUND BUT THE A/C CAME TO REST IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR HIS (ONE) PASSENGER. THERE WAS NO POST EVENT FIRE. THE A/C RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04CA252](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04CA252), Jun 29, 2004: Bellanca 7KCAB (N8717V), Casa Grande, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot misjudged the flare resulting in a bounced landing. Also causal was the pilot's inadequate recovery from the bounced landing resulting in a loss of directional control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
