## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 02, 2004 N7593P A COMANCHE PA-24-250 LANDED AT SBA WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. A STATEMENT WAS TAKEN FROM THE MECHANIC THAT RECOVERED THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE RUNWAY. HE STATED THAT THE PILOT (MICHAEL FISCHLER), EXPLAINED THAT HE HAD TRIED TO PERFORM A LANDING GEAR EMERGENCY EXTENSION BY EXTENDING THE JOHNSON BAR AND PUMPING IT FOR AND AFT TO LOWER THE GEAR. THIS IS CONTRARY TO THE PUBLISHED INSTRUCTIONS FOUND ON THE EMERGENCY EXTENSION ACCESS PANEL. A STATEMENT TAKEN FROM THE MR. FISCHLER INDICATED THAT HE WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE EMERGENCY EXTENSION PROCEDURE AND FURTHER THAT HE DID NOT CHECK THE POSITION OF THE JOHNSON BAR PRIOR TO LANDING.^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
