## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER DEPARTING FOR A SECOND FLIGHT, THE PILOT NOTED THAT THE WINDS HAD SHIFTED AND INCREASED IN VELOCITY, CAUSING HIS BALLOON TO BE CARRIED TO THE WEST, OVER THE CITY OF BEND. AFTER AN UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT TO LOCATE MORE FAVORABLE WINDS BY CLIMBING TO A HIGHER ALTITUDE, THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND. AS N7029C APPROACHED THE SELECTED LANDING AREA IT BRUSHED THE TOPS OF TREES IN THE AREA IN ORDER TO REDUCE IT'S GROUND SPEED. THE PILOT THEN DESCENDED MORE RAPIDLY THEN HE INTENDED AND BRUSHED THE UPPER SURFACE OF A BUILDING LOCATED TO THE NORTHEAST OF THE INTENDED LANDING AREA, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING. THE PILOT REPORTS THAT THE TOUCHDOWN, IN 7TH STREET TO THE WEST OF THE GARRISON SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER IN BEND, WAS UNEVENTFUL, AND THAT HIS GROUND CREW WAS PRESENT TO ASSIST HIM. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WHO WAS A PASSENGER ABOARD N7029C RECEIVED A MINOR SPRAIN TO HER ANKLE DURING THE LANDING BECAUSE HER FOOT WAS IMPROPERLY PLACED BEHIND THE BALLOONS FUEL TANK.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
