## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N761TD, A 1978 CESSNA 210 AIRCRAFT PILOTED BY MR. DOYLE PERGANDE CRASHED ON LANDING A MALLARD CREEK, IDAHO, A PRIVATE AIRPORT. THE MALLARD CREEK AIRPORT IS A 2000 FOOT GRASS STRIP WITH A DIRT ROAD IN THE CENTER OF THE RUNWAY. IN ADDITION, THE RUNWAY IS BORDERED BY TALL PINE TREES ON BOTH ENDS AND IS LOCATED AT 5,200 FEET MSL. DURING THE LANDING HEADING NORTH, MR. PERGANDE ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO DRIFT TO THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. THE NOSE GEAR OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A BERM AND FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. THIS IMPACT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET FROM THE TOUCH DOWN ZONE ON THE SOUTH END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, OR WILL BE CONSIDERED DESTROYED AT A LATER DATE. MR. PERGANDE STATED THE WIND MAY HAVE BEEN A FACTOR IN HIS INABILITY TO MAINTAIN RUNWAY ALIGNMENT. BOTH MR. PERGANDE AND HIS PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED BY THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04CA123](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04CA123), Jul 4, 2004: Cessna T210M (N761TD), Mallard Creek, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: Improper touchdown during landing. A factor contributing to the accident was soft ground conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
