## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT TOOK OFF FROM CEDAR MILLS MARINA IN RIGHT TO LEFT CROSSWIND. PILOT REPORTED THAT HE STAYED LOW TO BUILD AIRSPEED. RUNWAY IS LINED ON BOTH SIDES BY TREES THAT SHELTERED THE AIRCRAFT FROM CROSSWIND. AFTER CLEARING RUNWAY PILOT LOST CONTROL AND CARTWHEELED, LEFT WING LOW, INTO LAKE APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET OFF OF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. WITNESSES REPORT THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS BETWEEN 5 AND 25 FEET ALTITUDE WHEN PILOT LOST CONTROL. A NUMBER OF SIMILAR SIZED AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF FROM SAME RUNWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY BEFORE AND AFTER ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW04LA174](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW04LA174), Jul 4, 2004: Grumman AA-1 (N6241L), Gordonville, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's premature lift-off and his failure to abort the takeoff. Contributing factors were the soft and muddy runway conditions and the unfavorable winds.

## Other reports on N6241L (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19950601018039A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19950601018039A), Jun 1, 1995: Gulstm AA1 (N6241L), Rock Hill, SC, Substantial damage. Lost directional control near end of landing roll. Crosswind and castering. Non steerable nose wheel are factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
