## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PA18-150 ON FLOATS, PILOT HAS APPROX. 30 HRS FLOAT EXPERIENCE. PILOT REPORTS MINIMAL WIND AND NEAR GLASS WATER CONDITIONS. WATER LANDING WAS UNEVENTFUL, UNTIL FLOATS JUST BEGAN TO COME OFF THE STEP AND THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO GO TO THE RIGHT. THE LEFT FLOAT DUG IN AND AIRCRAFT "FLIPPED" OVER ON ITS BACK. NO INJURIES AND DAMAGE LIMITED TO SPAR DAMAGE ON LEFT WING. DURING AIRCRAFT RECOVERY, AIRCRAFT RECEIVED FURTHER SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI04CA176](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI04CA176), Jul 5, 2004: Piper PA-18-150 (N7072B), Lake City, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
