## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT CONTACTED GROUND WHILE PILOT WAS PERFORMING AN AEROBATIC MANEUVER (AT THE BOTTOM OF A LOOP). AIRCRAFT HIT FLAT SHEARING MAIN GEAR AND RIGHT WING AND ALMOST COMPLETELY SHEARING THE EMPENNAGE AFT OF THE PILOT'S SEAT ATTACHMENT. THE TAIL SECTION REMAINED FAIRLY INTACT. THE AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE CAME TO REST INVERTED AND THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE CAME TO REST AHEAD OF AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04FA127](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04FA127), Jul 9, 2004: Extra Flugzeugrau EA 300/L (N609JW), Boise, ID, destroyed. Probable cause: The failure of the pilot to maintain clearance with terrain during descent while conducting an aerobatic maneuver. Low altitude flight was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
