## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) LOST POWER AT CRUISE AND INITIATED AUTOROTATION. AT APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT ABOVE GROUND LEVEL, BELT DRIVE SYSTEM MADE FUNNY NOISE, AIRCRAFT YAWED NEARLY 90 DEGREES RIGHT, AND AIRCRAFT DROPPED TO GROUND, LEFT SKID COLLAPSED AND THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED ON ITS SIDE. (-23 AMENDMENT) ENGINE TEARDOWN REVEALED A SIEZED ENGINE SUPERCHARGER, AND A FAILED ENGINE TACHOMETER SENSING UNIT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN04CA101](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN04CA101), Jul 10, 2004: Whitlock Rotorway Exec 162F (N518W), Meeker, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: aircraft control not maintained by the pilot. A contributing factor was the failure of the supercharger.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
