## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT WAS PRACTICING APPROACHES FOLLOWED BY GO-AROUNDS AT VAN SANT AIRPORT (9N1). ON THE FOURTH MANEUVER, ANOTHER AIRCRAFT WAS ON A TAKE-OFF ROLL AND WAS HEADED TOWARD THE STUDENT'S AIRCRAFT. AT THAT TIME, THE STUDENT TRIED TO CONDUCT A GO-AROUND BUT DID NOT APPLY THE PROPER PROCEDURE IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND CRASHED ON THE FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC04LA169](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC04LA169), Jul 17, 2004: Cessna 172N (N262MC), Erwinna, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain airspeed and his failure to follow the go-around procedure which resulted in a stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
