## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 17, 2004, MR. JOHN R. MITCHELL, PILOT OF N55MM INTENDED TO LAND AT THE REAL COUNTY, TEXAS AIRPORT. THE APPROACH TO THE RUNWAY WAS NORMAL. THE PILOT MAINTAINED AIRSPEED AS REQUIRED, BUT RIGHT BEFORE TOUCH DOWN THE AIRCRAFT WAS CAUGHT IN A DOWN-DRAFT AND THE AIRCRAFT MADE A HARD LANDING. THE NOSE AND LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR SHEARED OFF AND THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE WAS DAMAGED. THERE WAS NO INJURY TO THE PILOT AND NO PROPERTY DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
