## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON THE GRASS STRIP BETWEEN RUNWAY 21 AND TAXIWAY AT THE DRIGGS, IDAHO AIRPORT. AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED FIVE TO SIX TIMES AND THE PILOT INITIATED A "GO AROUND." WHEN PILOT APPLIED POWER THE AIRCRAFT YAWED TO THE RIGHT APPROXIMATELY 30-50 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE PERIMETER FENCE, LOCATED PARALLEL TO THE TAXIWAY, AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER. NOTE: THE PILOT DECIDED TO LAND ON THE GRASS STRIP BECAUSE TOW PLANE AND GLIDER WERE ON THE RUNWAY. WITNESSES SAID THAT THE TOW PLANE AND GLIDER WERE IN THE AIR BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT LANDED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA04CA140](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA04CA140), Jul 24, 2004: Aviat A-1B (N991C), Driggs, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper recovery from a bounced landing which resulted in a loss of control and a nose over. A factor was the fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
