## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT AFTER LEAVING DESTIN AIRPORT CLIMBED TO 4,500 FEET (HIS CRUISING ALTITUDE) HE TRIMMED THE AIRCRAFT, CLOSED THE COWL FLAPS, REDUCED MANIFOLD PRESSURE TO 24 INCHES AND THE RPM TO 2,400, AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE QUIT. HE CALLED PENSACOLA AND SAID HE HAD AN EMERGENCY. THE FLIGHT LASTED 25 MINUTES. HE WAS ABLE TO SET THE AIRCRAFT DOWN IN A PASTURE, WITH THE AIRCRAFT STAYING ON ITS GEAR HE WENT THROUGH A FENCE AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL04CA165](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL04CA165), Aug 2, 2004: Mooney M20F (N9663M), Brewton, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power (non-mechanical) for undetermined reasons. A factor was the collision with a fence during emergency landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
