## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PLEASURE FLIGHT WAS BEING CONDUCTED INTO THE WESTFIELD INDIANA AIRPORT (I72) WITH THE PILOT PRACTICING SHORT-FIELD PILOT TECHNIQUES. HE STATED THAT HE ALLOWED THE AIRSPEED TO DECAY CAUSING A HIGH "SINK RATE." POWER WAS ADDED APPROXIMATELY THE SAME TIME THAT THE AIRCRAFT MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND, WHICH CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO BECOME AIRBORNE AGAIN. AS HE RECOVERED FROM THIS "BOUNCE" THE AIRCRAFT MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY AND BOUNCED AGAIN. PILOT ADDED FULL POWER, HOWEVER THE RIGHT WING STALLED AND DROPPED TO THE RUNWAY. A 180 DEGREE GROUND LOOP TO THE RIGHT CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT WING TIP, PROPELLER, MAIN GEAR AND FUSELAGE. (-23 AMENDMENT) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI04LA207](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI04LA207), Aug 3, 2004: Skystar Kitfox (N197BR), Westfield, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: the failure of the pilot to maintain adequate airspeed resulting in a stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
