## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE MAKING HIS SECOND APPROACH TO JACKSON WYOMING AIRPORT, THE PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT DURING THE FLARE AND HIT THE RUNWAY LIGHTS WITH THE LANDING GEAR, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER OFF THE RUNWAY CRASHING BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. NO INJURIES REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN04CA117](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN04CA117), Aug 8, 2004: Mooney M20K (N11640), Jackson Hole, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control resulting in a stall/mush. Contributing factors include the windshear, the crosswind and the runway light.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
