## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE DEPARTED THE AIRPORT FOR SOME PATTERN WORK. WHEN HE WAS DOWNWIND FOR LANDING HE ACCOMPLISHED HIS CHECKLIST INCLUDING THE LOWERING OF THE LANDING GEAR. THERE WERE TWO AIRCRAFT IN THE PATTERN IN FRONT OF HIM AND THEY SEEMED TO FLY FURTHER OUT THAN UNUSUAL FOR LANDING. DUE TO THE EXTENDED DOWNWIND HE CHOSE TO RETRACT HIS GEAR FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE. HE TURNED FINAL AND PROCEEDED TO THE AIRPORT TO LAND AND FORGOT THAT HE HAD RETRACTED THE GEAR. HE SUBSEQUENTLY LANDED GEAR UP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. AN AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTOR WENT TO THE AIRPORT AND STATED THAT THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
