## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 08/15/04, WHILE TAKING OFF FROM COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (BAK) ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT WITH TWO OCCUPANTS (PILOT AND PAX), THE TIGERMOTH DH-82 REGISTRATION NUMBER N7110S AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED ROUGH ENGINE CONDITIONS. THE PILOT CALLED ATC AND GOT PERMISSION TO LAND ON RUNWAY 14. DURING THE LANDING ATTEMPT THE ENGINE POWER WAS LOST AND THE PILOT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIENT ON A ROAD NEXT TO THE AIRPORT. NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WERE REPORTED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED TO THE HANGAR. MAINTENANCE INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT THE #3 CYLINDER CONNECTING ROD FAILED AND BROKE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CASE CONSEQUENTLY LOSING ENGINE OIL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
