## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED, HE DEPARTED OPA LOCKA AIRPORT ALONG WITH A PASSENGER ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ON A VFR FLIGHT THAT LASTED ABOUT 35 MINUTES. UPON RETURN TO OPA LOCKA AIRPORT FOR LANDING, HE PUT THE GEAR DOWN AND NOTICED THE UNSAFE GEAR LIGHT ON. HE SAW THE MAIN GEARS DOWN, BUT WHEN HE LOCKED UP THE MIRROR FOR THE NOSE GEAR, IT HAD NOT COME OUT. HE RECYCLED THE GEARS AGAIN, BUT THE NOSE FAILED TO COME OUT. HE NOTIFIED TOWER AND REQUESTED A "FLY BY" TO CONFIRM THE NOSE GEAR WAS UP, AND AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES TO MANUALLY PUT IT DOWN WITH NO RESULT, REQUESTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING. HE LANDED CAUSING THE MINIMUM DAMAGE UNDER THE NOSE COWLINGS AND EXHAUST PIPE WITH EXCEPTION OF THE PROPELLER TIPS WHICH IMPACTED THE GROUND CAUSING THE TIPS TO CURL UP. THE WINGS DID NOT CONTACT THE GROUND.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
