## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS AIRCRAFT LANDED AT THE PULLMAN, WA AIRPORT WITH THE LEFT HAND LANDING GEAR DANGLING FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE LANDING WAS AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE AND ON THE RIGHT HAND WHEEL. AT A SPEED BELOW 15 MILES PER HOUR, THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED TO THE SOD FURTHER DAMAGING THE LEFT GEAR, ALLOWING THE PROPELLER TO CONTACT THE GROUND, AND CAUSING THE FORWARD SPAR IN THE LEFT WING TO BREAK NEAR THE UPPER STRUT ATTACH POINT. THE RETAINING NUT WHICH HOLDS THE PISTON WAS ALLOWED TO TURN OFF IT'S THREADS WHEN THE NUT RETAINING CLIP FAILED AT THE JUNCTURE OF THE NUT AND PISTON THREADS. WHEN THIS NUT WAS FREE OF THE PISTON, THE PISTON CAME OUT OF IT'S STRUT ALLOWING THE GEAR (LEFT) TO DANGLE UNDER THE AIRCRAFT ATTACHED BY THE REAR AND FORWARD GEAR MOUNTING ATTACHMENTS ON THE LOWER LONGERONS.
