## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT ON LANDING AT THE SOW AIRPORT, TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET PAST THRESHOLD ON RW 6 WITH NO INCIDENT. ON ROLL OUT, STRUCK ELK THAT HAD CROSSED FROM THE RIGHT SIDE TO LEFT WHEN THE ELK STOPPED. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE ELK WITH THE PROPELLER AND IT CONTINUED THROUGH TO IMPACT THE LEADING EDGE OF LEFT WING, BETWEEN THE FUSELAGE AND THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR. AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT BUT PILOT REGAINED DIRECTIONAL CONTROL, BRING THE AIRCRAFT TO A STOP APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET FROM THE POINT OF TOUCHDOWN. PILOT PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN AND SECURE THE AIRCRAFT EVACUATING THE FLIGHT CREW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX04CA296](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX04CA296), Aug 18, 2004: Pilatus PC-12/45 (N562NA), Show Low, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the collision with an elk during the landing roll. The dark night lighting conditions was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
