## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT DEPARTED FROM ROOSEVELT AIRPORT, ROOSEVELT, UTAH AT 6:20 ON RUNWAY 7. AFTER ESTABLISHING HIS CLIMB THE LEFT ENGINE STARTED TO RUN ROUGH. HE TURNED LEFT TO COME BACK TO THE AIRPORT. HE PASSED CLOSE TO THE EAST END OF RUNWAY BUT WAS NOT LINED UP PROPERLY. AFTER PASSING THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE ENGINE QUIT AND HE TURNED WEST. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOSING ALTITUDE AND SO HE DECIDED TO TRY AND LAND IN A FIELD BY THE AIRPORT. THERE WERE SOME TREES IN THE FLIGHT PATH THAT HE HIT. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE GROUND HARD WHICH SEVERED THE LANDING GEAR FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE WINGS WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED, THE ENGINES SEPARATED FROM THE WINGS, THE FUSELAGE WAS WRINKLED AND THE ELEVATORS WERE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN04LA128](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN04LA128), Aug 20, 2004: Beech 95-B55 (N120F), Roosevelt, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: the loss of engine power for undetermined reasons. A contributing factor was the lack of suitable terrain for a forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
