## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT FLEW FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AND SHUT DOWN. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FUELED, THE PILOT AND PASSENGER BOARDED, AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED. RIGHT AFTER TAKEOFF THE PILOT NOTED THAT HE HAD NO AILERON CONTROL (NO LEFT OR RIGHT). THE AILERON CONTROLS FELT STIFF AND JAMMED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY (APPROXIMATELY 50FT IN ALTITUDE) WHEN IT CONTACTED A TREE AND CAME TO REST IN A WOODED AREA. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER SAFELY EGRESSED THE AIRCRAFT AND WALKED OUT OF THE WOODS. NEITHER OCCUPANT SUFFERED ANY INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL04CA169](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL04CA169), Aug 22, 2004: Aeronca 7AC (N84399), Spring Hope, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The binding of the right aileron control cable, which resulted in a loss in aileron control, and subsequent collision with trees and terrain.
