## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 8/23/2004, AT 1819 CDT, WHILE ON A FLIGHT FROM COLUMBUS, NE, TO LINCOLN, NE, HELICOPTER N911LR EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE CHIP LIGHT. THE PILOT MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE POH. THIS LANDING WAS MADE OFF AIRPORT, 5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF DAVID CITY, NE. TWO SMALL METAL CHIPS WERE NOTED ON THE REAR BEARING OIL RETURN CHIP PLUG. OIL WAS DRAINED AND FLUSHED, FILTER WAS REPLACED AND THE OLD FILTER WAS INSPECTED WITH NO OTHER METAL NOTED AT THIS TIME. GROUND RUNS WERE CONDUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL, CHAPTER 72-80-01, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. NO DAMAGE TO THIS AIRCRAFT OR ENGINE WERE NOTED DURING THIS INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
