## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT PURPOSELY MADE A HARD LANDING DUE TO HIGH SURFACE WINDS. A PASSENGER, ^PRIVACY DATA ^, SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES AND WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR THREE DAYS AND MAY NEED FURTHER OPERATIONS. THE ACCIDENT WAS NOT REPORTED. DURING DISCUSSIONS OF THE ACCIDENT WITH MR. ROBINSON AND IN REPLY TO MY LETTER OF INVESTIGATION MR. ROBINSON STATED THAT HE HAD CONTACTED THE HOSPITAL AND THEY WOULD NOT GIVE HIM INFORMATION ON THE CONDITION OF ^PRIVACY DATA O^ HE THEN CONTACTED ^PRIVACY DATA^ AND HE INFORMED HIM THAT HIS WIFE WAS DOING OK AND WAS BEING RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL. MR. ROBINSON WAS CONTACTED BY THE NTSB AND FILED AN ACCIDENT REPORT AND HAD ALSO SUBMITTED A NASA REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD04CA045](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD04CA045), Aug 25, 2004: Cameron Balloons Z-90 (N1032B), Dover, PA, no damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to arrest an excessive descent rate prior to ground contact, which resulted in a hard landing. A factor was the relatively high winds (for balloon flight.)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
