## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS GIVING A SIGHT SEEING RIDE FLYING NORTH OVER THE WISCONSIN RIVER AT A MAXIMUM ALTITUDE OF 50 FEET. PILOT STATED THAT HE DIDN'T SEE THE POWER LINES, ALTHOUGH HE WAS AWARE THAT THEY WERE THERE. WHEN HE INITIATED A CLIMB HE SAW THE POWER LINES JUST BEFORE STRIKING THE LOWER 3 LINES ESTIMATED TO BE 50 FEET ABOVE THE WATER. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE 3 LOWER POWER LINES WITH THE MAIN LANDING GEAR AND NOSED OVER AND WENT INTO A ROCKY AREA OF THE RIVER ABOUT 3 FEET DEEP. THE AIRCRAFT THEN CAME TO REST INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI04LA243](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI04LA243), Aug 28, 2004: Boeing A75 (N86600), Wisconsin Rapid, WI, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's improper in-flight decision when he decided to fly at a low altitude over the river and failed to maintain clearance from the power lines. A factor was the wires.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
