(-23) ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2004 N1907Y A MOONEY 20D DEPARTING RUNWAY 19, 2V1 STEVENS FIELD, PAGOSA SPRINGS IMPACTED THE GROUND AND BURNED. THE PIC SOLE OCCUPANT ON BOARD RECEIVED FATAL INJURIES. FAA DATABASE INDICATED THE PILOT HAD A TOTAL FLIGHT TIME OF 2600 HOURS. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND 240 FEET LEFT OF CENTER LINE AND APPROXIMATELY 2800 FEET FROM TAKE OFF ROLL. ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2004 A LOCAL FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WAS TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT TO LAKE HAVASU FOR THE OWNER, BUT DUE TO MECHANICAL ISSUES, HE ELECTED NOT TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT.
